Scented candle xmas hack
How to make a scented candle
You will need:
- 1 glass container
- 1 glass measuring jar
- 1 candle wick
- 1 chopstick or skewer
- Wax flakes
- Scent of your choice
Step 1: Measure out your wax flakes in your glass measuring container, our rule of thumb is to use 2 cups of wax flakes for every cup of liquid wax you would like.
Step 2: Fill a saucepan with water to about halfway and place your glass measuring container full of the wax flakes in the middle of the pot.
TIP: Ensure the water level is low enough that it won’t splash into the wax when it boils.
Step 3: Bring the water to the boil and stir the wax gently as it begins to melt.
Step 4: Once the wax is fully melted add the scent of your choice and stir it in. If you’re using essential oils, the general rule is 10 drops to every 500mls of wax.
Step 5: Decant the scented wax into the glass container.
Step 6: Once the wax is cooled to 50 degrees Celsius, tie the top end of your wick onto a chopstick or skewer and gently lower it into the jar.
Step 7: Let your candle set before trimming down the wick, then your candle is ready to go! You can leave it in the container for a candle holder, or break the container for the exposed wax look. Tie a festive ribbon around the candle for an extra seasonal touch!
